Why Does Obama Take Credit For Something He Did Not Do?

I am writing this to set the record straight about President Obama and his part in the Iraq withdrawal.

President Obama is very quick to place the blame (for instance) for a horrible economy he “inherited” on the Bush administration. He hasn’t stopped placing this blame in fact. It also is the mantra for the Democrats going into the November elections. Ignore what they really did for the past eighteen months (to destroy the country) and focus on what the Bush administration did, essentially the Dems must LIE to deflect the blame for our country’s woes.

Yeah- let’s see how that’s working for you Mr. Obama. Let me quick check those popularity numbers. Oh – and let me check the deficit as compared to what it was under W. Oh, and while I’m at it, let me check those unemployment numbers under the Bush administration as compared to what they are today. What? We've more than doubled the joblessness numbers since your brilliant ideas to fix all of this was implemented? Housing sales have plummeted to historic lows, lows we haven't seen since the 1960's?? The Summer rally for blue chips faltered when all the data was accumulated because the economic outlook is so grim? Weak firms pile on debt and more trouble? Issuers of credit cards faced with new Obama regulations so choking, they are now scrambling to figure out how to make any money at all given that business is shrinking and now it's more costly to operate? All after you took office Mr. Obama and you and the Democrats passed a bunch of destructive laws/bills/pork and what-not to help our economy?

Who knew?!

Liberals will make the excuse, “It can’t be done quickly, it takes time.” Good answer I admit. Even I would have to agree to some extent that this is true. It can't happen over night. However herein lies the problem with that. The Genius—otherwise known as BH Obama – promised, and I mean over and over and over in speech after speech—if we just elected HIM and we allowed him to use HIS genius economic strategy (billions of dollars of TAX PAYER bail-outs as just one of his economic genius ideas...) HE PROMISED unemployment would never go above 8%! He's SO danged smart after all, he had this whole economic thing down to a science! He told us so! And then when he took office, because his ideas were so brilliant, so fantastic, even though none of it could be fixed overnight as any reasonable person would know, his measures would at least stop the terrible slide to destruction. Oh, that didn't happen? Really? Then it must have at least slowed it down a lot! What's that? Are you trying to say to me it got worse, FAR FAR WORSE? And the outlook is so grim we are nearing Greek-like economic implosions?? No! Say it ain't so!

Then President Obama became President and things merely went from disaster to catastrophic disaster.

But that’s not why I write this today.

This Hub is to correct the very wrong impression that President Obama has been trying to foist upon the American people regarding the war on Terror. Inclusive, to correct the lies of the Democratic party prior to President Obama taking office. The “there is no exit strategy” lie that the socialist-stream media perpetuated for years prior and during Mr. Obama's campaign for President of the United States.

Here are the facts.

1. Mr. Bush most definitely had an exit strategy and I have to blame them for not making this abundantly clear at the time. How can I write this unequivocally? Because my husband headed up the team that determined the strategy to hand over control of Afghanistan and transition into NATO control. Today this has happened. When did my husband head up the team to work this aspect of the exit strategy? November of 2008. President Obama simply followed the Bush plan – essentially, to the letter.

It ticks me off that there is this notion that President Bush had no strategy. My husband missed our only son’s High School graduation and all my son’s Lacrosse games as his team’s captain that year just to come up with this plan as part of the bigger exit strategy to EXIT Afghanistan.

The media was so bent on repeating the "No exit strategy" lie that I had the opportunity to see this cover-up in action for myself.

I was on the Community Editorial Board for The Lansing State Journal here in Michigan at the time of my husband's deployment. When we met each month the head editors attended the meetings. They were present the day I announced that my husband was deploying to Afghanistan as part of an exit strategy. The silence in the room was so thick I couldn't have cut it with a buzz saw.

The awkward silence only ended when the editor quickly called an end to the meeting and they all beat feet out of the room. No one from the paper asked me details. No one from the paper called later to interview me. They simply continued to print their articles that proclaimed, "Bush has no exit strategy." The irrational hatred was alive and well in that newsroom as it was across most newsrooms of the country at the time. The truth would have ruined their propaganda machine. As the famous line from "A Few Good Men" goes, "You can't handle the truth!" They definitely couldn't handle the truth. It didn't fit their liberal agenda propaganda machine. This all occurred in 2006-2007. Gee, somebody please tell me who was President at that time?

2. Mr. Obama also did not devise/come up with/determine the course of/ nor anything even resembling active involvement—in leaving Iraq. Much to the liberal’s dismay, and unfortunately what they don’t know is, this too was planned during the Bush administration. And once again, my husband deployed to implement a large portion of this plan in this case to Iraq to head up a huge team of experts to transition 30,000 prisoners/detainees to the Iraqi government. I wonder, do liberals even know there are other prisoners than the ones at Guantanamo Bay? 30,000 that were treated perfectly well. Some so much so, they begged the Americans to "keep" them.

This detainee "hand off" as it were - was a major part of the larger plan of LEAVING IRAQ – otherwise known as AN EXIT STRATEGY. This began in July of 2008-2009.

While my husband was deployed that time, he missed the wedding of our only son as well as the birth of his/our first grandchild.

And again, President Obama changed NOTHING of this plan. He implemented NOTHING NEW with regard to this plan and this stands true for the larger plan of drawing down troops and leaving Iraq. This transition of detainees was just a part of the bigger exit strategy done under the Bush administration. How can I say this with absolute certainty? My husband left for Iraq in July 2008 to devise and implement this plan. Long before Mr. Obama even took the oath of office. My husband was recalled from his RETIREMENT – and had to turn down an offer of a lucrative civilian job BTW which in Michigan was rare, to serve as the head of this contingent.

I remember when my husband told me about the request to recall him from his retirement. I at first said, “Say no.” I have always supported his deployments, but I admit I was ready for retirement from the Army after 30 years, even if he wasn’t.

He said (and I quote), “Carol my country has called me, how can I say no?”

What do you say to that? So I reluctantly – once again – gave my support.

And lest you think for one second he was the only one sacrificing – there was a team of lawyers on my husband's staff at the Iraqi headquarters. One was the grandson of a very, very famous film producer. An extremely bright young man of privilege who was on his second tour in Iraq as a reservist because he believed he was needed (he was) and wanted to serve his country. Another was a Beverly Hills entertainment lawyer who was losing untold thousands of hours of dollars a month to serve his country in this capacity. He too left a wife and small children back in the states. There was story after story like this of great heroic men and women who sacrificed so much for something the media claimed didn't exist!

To be clear – Mr. Obama neither devised, nor did any “team” or even “czar” of his develop any of this. He followed the Bush administration’s plan to the letter. How do I know this? My husband knows the plan for both Iraq and Afghanistan and so far, all is going well…as planned. Nothing was tweaked or changed. All of this done under the Bush administration.

Yet this is something that President Obama isn’t mentioning. The fact that he merely picked up where the Bush administration left off is somehow inexplicibly overlooked when he constantly looks back to BLAME the Bush administration for everything from the economy to the color of the White House curtains. Well - maybe he didn't publicly complain about the curtains, but Mr. Obama has not been shy about the "Blame Bush" game. Yet he is somehow, inexplicably, taking full credit for "ending the Iraq war." even making a lovely speech – “See what I did? I said I’d exit, and I DID exit! Excuse me while I bend over a little further attempting to pat myself on the back for doing…well…nothing other than staying out of the way and letting the adults maintain control of at least this situation.”

What despicable behavior. But then, why am I not surprised?
