Why Are Liberals So Afraid of Fox News?
79
I wonder how many liberals who hate Fox News knew about CNN’s Senior Editor for the Middle East Octavia Nasr? I wonder before today after all the other news channels and lame stream media outlets were forced to report the news. The news that she was fired.
Those of us who watch Fox News knew the real story, the story behind the firing. If it wasn’t for Fox News, this woman’s job might still have been very secure and they could still keep their dirty secret. About the liberal, anti-Jew, anti-Christian, anti-Conservative bias of the lame stream media. Thanks to Fox News, this is one time they couldn’t hide under their liberal bias tent.
I wonder how many liberals knew about the "Tweet" this woman sent that got her fired? It’s a shame too, because those who hate Fox News, and there are many liberals who do, are missing something. They’re missing the news.
Nasr Tweeted 150 characters as it were, and it's what got her fired. She wrote with regard to the death of a Hezebullah leader. “…sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah…One of Hezbollah's giants I respect a lot."
It is fascinating to me the ignorant Hubs I’ve read and other blogs regarding liberal hatred for Fox News. They are stunningly ignorant in fact and I have found no exception to the blogs or Hubs I can stomach long enough to read with regard to this topic. They all complain bitterly and usually hatefully about Glen Beck, Hannity and O’Reily as being biased. They’ll even add examples – but most times not – because they haven’t watched Fox News for one thing.
For another, they obviously don’t know the difference between News Commentary and Fox News.
And even the commentary on Fox News has opposing view points. Let’s name just some of the liberals I see consistently on Fox:
Juan Williams (I always listen to him even though I disagree)
Bob Beckel (I really like this guy, he makes me laugh - don't agree with him, but he's always interesting)
Greta Van Sustern
Mary Ann Marsh
Kristen Powers
Alan Colmes (love him, I’ve written him and he was gracious enough to answer)
Marc Lamont Hill (fired but has been appearing on Fox again so obviously is back)
Jane Hall
Neil Gabler
NPR’s Mara Liasson (one of my favs who is on every night)
This is by far not even a comprehensive list because it doesn’t include the non-regulars who do guest spots. I defy anyone to find me five regular conservative commentators on MSNBC, CNN, CBS or NBC. I defy them to find a conservative ever on any of their programming, be it News Commentary or just the News.
Liberals must be frightened about the truth. Is Fox News perfect? Of course not. But it’s by far the best thing out there and they will report the truth – for the most part, about what is going on and they will present even the commentary with guests who have opinions on the other side of the matter.
I had the misfortune; over the 4th of July holiday to have a conversation with a liberal (who will remain nameless). Let’s call him Joe. Joe admitted he didn’t watch T.V. news, didn’t use the internet and primarily listened to NPR on the radio. Now there’s a bastion of unbiased news for ya!
We talked about the oil crisis and I, knowing he was a vegetarian and extreme liberal, decided to find out what he thought of President Obama not doing anything (essentially) about the oil spill. His two basic points:
America is “addicted” to oil. We needed to end our dependence on oil.
The oil spill isn’t that bad.
He elaborated on this one a bit telling me that if we “dug deep down” in the sand, it’s a miniscule amount of oil washing up on the beaches.
Oh really?
Actually, Fox News uncovered that when we dug deep down in the sand on some beaches there was a boat load of oil – pun intended – underneath “fresh sand” indicating a possible cover-up.
But let’s get back to why I was so stunned by Joe’s comments. When I came home, I heard from one of my favorite Hubbers. She told me via private email she had the “misfortune” of having talked to someone over the 4th of July holiday who was a liberal. My friend said the liberal told her, THE OIL SPILL WASN’T ALL THAT BAD AND NOT MUCH WAS WASHING UP ON THE SHORES.
Can we spell “lemming” or “parrot” or “idiot?” Sorry about the idiot part but can liberals BE any less informed? They’re so terrified of watching Fox News because THEY MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING that would make them understand their fanciful beliefs – global warming, government is the god they need to worship and receive all sustenance from, we’re not taxed enough…the oil spill isn’t that bad ----- are-----uh…well not such good ideas! It would mean they would have to change their faith in the things they worship. And they’re not willing to do that.
I leave you with this, “To make a conservative mad, lie to them. To make a liberal mad, tell them the truth.”

Great work Carol. I love the very valid and insightful observations you made here. It is much like the lib vs. conservative stuff....if conservatives dislike guns, they don't buy guns, if libs dislike guns, they want them outlawed so nobody can have one. I thought the left loves to espouse freedom and choice? Obviously, that only applies if the choices you make seem good to them.
Tonight on O'Reilly, he had a hispanic guy who he asked about the 1,100 illegals in jails in AZ for committing crimes, the lib just kept changing the subject and dodging the question. Had I been the host, after one dodge, the guest would have been GONE! IMO, O'Reilly is too liberal. Those who dislike him have obviously never watched and listened. As you said, libs just hate to face the truth, they seem pretty full of animosity for facts in general!
When politics is your religion, you accept the beliefs and don't want to hear any others.
Carol,
Fox is as close to balanced as news and commentary can get and that's the reason they're #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As sheila b. said, liberalism is the religion.
Thanks Carol.
Awesome hub. I love your matter of fact way of stating things! My first thought when I read the title of your hub (Why are Liberals so Afraid of Fox News?) was "Because they report facts--the truth!" :)
Keep up the good work.
Interesting hub, cjv123!
I think people tend to dislike or fear certain channels / people / groups because it's so easy to stick to heuristics and not actually do the research to find out for themselves.
It's nice to see that you HAVE looked into more detail with Fox News. If only all of us cared enough to look deeper into things we'd otherwise dislike or not trust! I think the world would be a better place if we did.
Terrific hub Carol. I am so happy you named all the liberals that appear on Fox. Liberals never watch Fox but feel quite comfortable attacking the network. I suppose that for them ignorance is bliss. I give this hub a giant thumbs up!
Great Hub as usual. I like the "I'll leave you with this" comment. Ain't that the truth, (pun intended).
My friend asked me this same question the other day. He and his wife own a fitness studio and, being highly conservative, they often play FOX news on the TVs there. However, many of the members are highly liberal and complain about FOX--before they even give it a chance to see what exactly the newscasters are talking about. I believe the reason individuals are so against FOX is because there is a stigma that FOX is conservative and CNN/other mainstream media (notably CBS, NBC, and ABC) are liberal. What fascinates me is that after watching CNN for years and years, I finally started watching FOX and for the first time in my life began to feel like I was actually getting "news"--not some watered down version of a hidden liberal agenda (which, if you've watched CNN lately) is typically just played over and over again.
I think you forget that a lot of us liberals are Jews =(
I don't understand why the right thinks we are anti-Semitic just because we see through Israel lies.
You know one thing you stated that got me thinking, the liberals that work for FoxNews, are not typical, to the fact that most of these guys are extremely civil and are good people. I think that bothers many liberals because they are not rude, mean and disrespectful to those on the right....
just an observation.
The libs are still stuck on the whole "Teabagger" thing, which I find very humourus because it come from a real "Teabagger" that babbles hate and is one of them, and by one of them, I mean "a lib" who just happens to be a "tickle me homo"
You must watch Fox if you want to know what is really going on. There are plenty of other outlets where you can find the other side of the story.
I find it unfortunate that you have the opportunity to make a rational argument for a conservative viewpoint, but instead choose to focus on generalizations and negative personal experiences you have had with individual liberals. From your responses, it seems that you are writing to your readership (what we might call "preaching to the choir") rather than the wide variety of people who might stumble on your hub. If you feel so passionately about your message, you might try to broaden your horizons.
Everyone who says that Fox is the only way to get the news accurately is simply misinformed. There are so many publications, both in print and online, that take the effort to go into a given situation in more detail than a TV news source that must fit a great deal of news into an allotted time slot. If you are intelligent enough to recognize bias, as you and your other respondents imply that you are, wouldn't it be better to draw facts from a variety of sources and use your best judgment to get a clear idea of what's going on, both in America and in the world? This is not to say that you should abandon Fox, but rather that you might do well to take a more comprehensive look at the sources available to you.
This is meant to be helpful, not hateful. If you feel your voice should be heard, a new approach may be beneficial. Just a suggestion.
Nice Hub!
I agree with on the liberal commentors they have. All of them seem to be classy individuals, who can converse without becoming obnoxious.
AND, I love the.... “To make a conservative mad, lie to them. To make a liberal mad, tell them the truth.”...I may have to steal this one, to use on my liberal buddies...lol.
:)
Sorry, that was more addressed to Karen Wodke, and I should have said "imply" rather than "said." "You must watch Fox if you want to know what's going on" does imply that it's the only *legitimate* news source.
No fear of Fox here. My problem with Fox is that they are a propaganda outlet for the GOP...and authoritarian personalities (many of whom commenting here) will swallow anything they see on Fox and never bother to fact check or even question any of it.
Fox can keep doing what they're doing, but to call themselves "fair and balanced" is simply laughable. The lies and misinformation peddled on Fox are well documented...Roger Ailes even admitted that Fox "is the balance" to other news outlets...which makes them, by definition, a conservative propaganda outlet. Only telling one side of a story does not make you "fair and balanced".

Great hub, cant wait for a liberal to post a rant and prove your point on here LOL. honestly Im sick of the stupidity of much of the left. they take a decent issue and then take it so far over the top no one wants to even work with it.
I just read a question that said Animal testing was so bad that we should stop using animals and test on people. What kind of Mor..... Person can even justify that.
oh well. if you dont learn from the past your lucky if you live to repeat it.
