What I mean by "censorship" is with regard to Hubpages.
I just had a back and forth with a liberal under my one of the comments sections. I finally had to censor the person’s comments. This time not because they were vulgar or profane, but because they repeated nonsense. I find that when faced with the facts, liberals cower. In this case however, the person wasn’t cowering. They repeated what they believe to be facts – I’m going to use just one example from this liberal who will remain nameless: “We've seen the economy go from losing 800,000 jobs per year before Obama took office to gaining jobs in 6 out of the last 7 months.”
Interesting spin on the actual jobs numbers I admit. Fantasy, but interesting way to warp the facts. Much like “jobs saved” you know, that new Obamaian economic term…
Usually I use primary sources or try to anyway – but this blog links to them and it summarizes the actual factual information regarding “job creation” – which has not happened in the almost two years of the Obama administration.

I know from reading The Wall Street Journal and watching Fox News – our job recovery is horrible. The jobs lost far exceeds and will far exceed any jobs “created” for the foreseeable future. And the jobs created are false jobs anyway. Like federal government jobs and census jobs.
Yet this liberal sees a rosy picture because he probably read it somewhere or heard it in a $25,000 per plate Democratic fundraiser that we all owe Mr. Obama a “thank you” for the “economic recovery!” Yeah right Mr. Obama, thanks for nothing, literally.

As Judge Judy (J.J.) says [paraphrasing here], “Lie to me about one thing, I call into question your entire testimony.”
I love J.J.. She really gets to the heart of the matter.
This liberal’s comments just repeat and repeat the liberal standard lines that are the typical distortions of the truth. All of his comments and the things listed in his comments were like that statement I quoted above. So I censored his lengthy comments after a certain point. Why give a forum to these half-truths and in some cases downright lies? No less repeatedly counter these nonsensical comments one by one? I admit – I honestly don’t think the person intentionally lied. The person is a true believer.
But these Hubpages with cjv123 on them are not for the liberal faithful to proselyte.
They can write their own Hubs to do that. They won’t get a platform, at least not
on these pages. I let some of their silliness through, just to show how
brainwashed they really are with their cult teachings. But at a certain point –
it just gets repetitious. And it’s not that I’m so important that I can’t take
the time. It’s that I HATE to WASTE time. I am busy – and to me, wasting time
is a sin. God gives us this gift of life and life is short. I’m not going to
waste it going back and forth repeating over and over something that has either
been addressed here in one of my Hubs or addressed here under the comments in
one of my Hubs. It’s simply a waste of time.
He got mad and called my comments “hateful”. My comments are up on the Hub, I just censored his, I didn’t write my comments in secret. I have nothing to be ashamed of and I know what I wrote wasn’t “hateful.” If they were, I’d probably want to do them in secret. But I didn’t.
I try to be fair. I have some liberal comments sprinkled all through my Hubs, but there is a time to draw the line, and draw the line I did.
So I come today to say in some cases, it’s OK to censor a liberal. Usually that’s the way liberals try to win an argument, just shut down the opposing views and take away their rights. They try to do it all the time and even try to legislate these gag methods and make them law. We who love the constitution have to vigilant.
In this case though, I plead it is all in the interest of saving precious time. This past Sunday, among other wise things our guest Pastor said, one thing I have taken away with me and plan to put into action. “Redeem your time.”
I’ve been trying to do this in my life for about five years now. I vow to become better at it. So I’m going to try to avoid useless bickering and arguments. I’m going to really try not to become offended and on Hubpages, I’m going to just hit “delete” when it comes to die-hard repetitious liberal comments. I will use censorship if it's called for.

I agree with you Carol--most of the jobs that have been created this past quarter have been from U.S. jobs like the census workers. If that liberal cannot face the truth then too bad. It's a shame they will not wake up and smell the truth.
I know, I know - BUT - I have since - believe it or not Sheila, Tom and Eovery - realized that as long as someone is not profane or vulgar (my own rules for my Hubpages) then I should approve them. Plus - I don't have to answer to every single comment. I have gotten myself in trouble in the past because I'm "polite." I then end up in my own bondage because I force these rules upon myself. I should write a Hub about that time in my life.
I felt I HAD to answer to every single liberal talking point and I didn't have any time to do so. That's just plain dumb. Of me. So while I have to delete some liberal's comments because they are profane and or vulgar - if they remain polite - in the future, I'm probably going to allow them.
It does get so, so SO tiring though when they repeat the same stuff over and over when it's factually INCORRECT! Ug....

Hello cjv, it's like we live in a parallel universe because we say exactly the same thing about our friends on the right. I hope you don't really use any of the "reporting" you hear on Fox News as factual evidence to back up your rhetoric.
And yes, we have gained jobs... and the only way you can fill in the jobless hole dug by our friend GB when you have been at a deficit in job creation since 2007 is to fill in the gaping hole before you can begin building job growth on top of it.
Nonfarm payrolls decreased by 125 thousand in June, 2010... and while the economy has lost 170 thousand jobs over the last year... 7.5 million jobs had already been lost since the recession started in December 2007... check out Chart 2 in the attached link to view the loss of jobs since June of 2008 dipping to 7.5 million jobs lost by December 2008... and a consistent recovery of the numbers of jobs lost since March 2008.
It is important to note that this recession began well before President Obama took office and losing 7.5 million jobs since 2007 puts a large onus on GB and GOP economic policies that dug the deepest unemployment hole since 1945.

It would be a little like going on a 9 week maternity leave, which would be really cool, but the company didn't hire anyone to keep up with your work while you were gone. It might just take awhile to catch up and then get ahead of the work curve when you return... or you might get lucky like GB and let someone else clean up the mess.
It's not rhetoric when it's factual and I'm not the least bit arrogant or spewing projectile vitriol... I'm just saying...
KKlames - You're wrong about so many things but I'll just touch on a few. I do get my news from Fox - you ought to try it sometime. You'd learn something. The Huffington Post is SO yesterday.
Secondly - I get my economic news from the experts at the Wall Street Journal. You should try them sometime too. But liberals hate facts.

Morning, cjv, with the campaigns starting in a few weeks, this rhetoric is going to get a lot louder. Thanks for your sanity and the common sense. Arming ourselves with the truth is the only way to sift through the lies and slanted facts that will be rampant in the coming months.
My general rule is to disallow comments longer than the original hub and I don't allow lengthy debates either. With my massive ego (that i've done NOTHING to deserve), it's all about ME.
Great hub carol. I think it all boils down to the fact that this is your forum, your voice, your point of view. When discussions turn into arguments it's time to shut it down. You are the best, that is for sure.
I had to censor comments once, too because the person just kept repeating what they had to say and it was becoming a fight, not an argument or discussion. It's not a fun thing to do because you can make people feel like you're unfair, but sometimes you've just got to.

I love your sentiment here and totally agree with what you have said. I cringed when I saw the comment from KK because I have had a few unpleasant interactions with her as well. I did enjoy your response to her, but as we KNOW, a little fact NEVER gets in the way of a liberals blind devotion to their leader!!

She just had one of my hubbs removed with help from her liberal friends and befriending the CEO of Hub, not a problem we got it back up!I did have to remove her name from the hub though! Hub pages said I could not speak ill of someone in the Hub, they did say however that the comment section was by the authors choice! KKalmes and HiJinks are the culprits and slanderers in my case! HiJinks posted comments saying I wanted to kill liberals! and that I threatened his children! I have repeatedly asked for an apology but to date to no avail, sorry to be so long! ps I want to know about your fox interview? or did I hear that right?
I'll send you the links to the Fox News interview - and I'm so sorry about your troubles. That used to happen to me when I used to be militant about calling the Mormon Church a cult. I used to write volumes on-line about that. The Mormon Church has created an entire TEAM to make sure these things are censored - so they are relentless with trying to shut people like me up.
I know how that feels, trust me. It's especially frustrating when you KNOW you haven't broken the rules. One blogging site - actually it was more of a Bulletin Board type of place - just shut me down without even asking me about it. Now they're struggling and asking for money from their "members." Sorry - I'm outta there!
So I really feel for your dilemma. Here the trick is follow the rules to THE LETTER. Read their TOS. Then stick to it. The Hubteam will give you the chance to defend yourself, I can tell you that from personal experience. Then there's nothing even libs cozy with the CEO etc. can do anything about it because to the Hubteam's credit, they do abide by their own rules.
Now - can a lib probably still stick you and maybe get you on a technicality. I'm sure they can - but that's still my advice for what it's worth. I've read your Hubs and they can be - shall we say - a little "salty" sometimes. So just be careful and measure your words and you'll probably be safe. Just some suggestions! Take it or leave it - I won't be wounded if you just hit "delete" so to speak. ;-) Carol
Censorship is bad no matter who is doing it. People have different oppinions and they should be allowed to express them whether or not you agree.
By cutting off that person, just because you did not like his/her comments, you were the one to get out of the kitchen and you may do it once again by deleting my comment
You've missed the points made by not only this Hub, but by the comments as well "You asked for it." Point 1 - when the comments become longer than the Hub and repetitious, it's time to delete. It's free to set up your own Hub - write your own. #2. At a certain point, it's just an argument, not an exchange of opinions. It's my Hub, I tend to have the last word here. Just as on someone else's Hub - if I were being contentious, they should have the last word.
#3. When someone is profane or vulgar they won't get onto my Hub. Plain and simple. If the person is cordial, polite, doesn't personally attack anyone, they'll have their views aired. That's the way it is. If you don't like - leave.

I've noticed very long comments on a few hubs - one or two on mine, also - and I've wondered what you asked. Why don't they just write their own hub? They certainly write long enough comments. I guess they figure they'll get more of an audience on yours...
