MARCHER LORD PRESS SIGNS AUTHOR KATHY TYERS
Today Jeff Gerke is excited (and even a little giddy) to announce that beloved Christian science fiction author Kathy Tyers is joining the ranks of Marcher Lord Press authors.
Kathy Tyers’s Firebird trilogy (acquired by the legendary Steve Laube, then at Bethany House) literally invented the Christian science fiction genre in the modern era. If you spend much time talking about Christian speculative fiction, you'll hear of Kathy and her books. In a way, she did for Christian SF what Peretti did for Christian fiction on the whole.
Kathy's SF reach extends beyond the realm of Christian publishing, however. Her The Truce at Bakura and Balance Point novels are official Star Wars books. Her popular treatment of the Star Wars universe has led to her contributing short fiction to several Star Wars short story collections including Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, Tales from Jabba's Palace, Tales of the Bounty Hunters, and Tales from The Empire.
“We are thrilled to be Kathy Tyers’s publisher,” says Jeff Gerke, Marcher Lord Press founder and publisher. “Marcher Lord Press has been reeling in the accomplishments this year, from Jill Williamson’s Christy Award win for By Darkness Hid to our five finalist nominations in the ACFW Carol Awards. Adding Kathy to our stable of authors is yet another proof that we are the premier publisher of Christian speculative fiction.”
Plans for Kathy’s publishing program at Marcher Lord Press are still pending announcement, but they are rumored to include a repackaging of the original Firebird trilogy and additional, previously unpublished books in the Firebird saga.8345 Pepperidge Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920

Awesome! I've always enjoyed the Star Wars stories by her that I've had a chance to read, and since I've never gotten the Firebird trilogy, now's the time to do so if there ever was a time! Whoo-hoo! Congratulations Jeff, and Marcher Lord Press! Yaay!! :-D
I took a class from Kathy at a Northwest Christian Writers Association conference near Seattle. What a coup for Jeff and Marcher Lord Press!
I will be checking her books out at the local library this week. Thanks
I'm anxious to see what Kathy Tyers writes next. If you think "Firebird" and Star Wars are it, you have missed some very creative, intelligent science fiction:
"Crystal Witness", "Shivering World", "One Minds Eye"
