Let's Mosey On Down To Harry Reid's Cowboy Poetry Festival
66Saddle up them horses!
March 9, 2011
Did you know that according to a March 7, 2011 Wall Street Journal article departing members of the House of Representatives gave millions of dollars to their aides? Most of course, were Democrats (because most of the departing members were Democrats).
In the 4th quarter, Jim Marshall (D., GA) has a 125% increase in his payroll. Marion Berry (D., Ark.) had a spike of 117% and not to leave out the Republicans, Ginny Brown-Waite (R., FL) had a 110% dramatic increase.
Is it only me who considers this highway robbery?
While we’re on the subject of
out-of-control-federal-spending—I bring you to Kathleen Sebilus, one of our
dear President’s Czars, who appeared before the House Energy and Commerce
Health Subcommittee. Sebilus, the Health and Human Services Secretary, admitted
that the Obama administration “double counted” when they pretended that nearly
half a trillion, yes, that’s “illion” with a “t”, was allotted for Medicare and
Obamacare. Excuse me Ms. Sebilus, I've heard of Creative Writing, that's a nice thing, but isn't what you said actually creative accounting? Isn't that...ah...how shall I say...illegal? Didn't Berny Maddoff go to jail for that kind of thing?
Can we spell, “Book um’ Dano?”
Because I have to work too hard to keep the bile from coming up into my mouth and I am weary of trying, I leave you with this.
The Republicans have come up with a 2011 Budget. It passed the House. Then it went on to the Senate. The Republicans have passed a $32 billion budget onto the House. There is much wailing and gnashing of teeth from the Democrats as they get ready to tweak their proposed $4 billion budget.
Does it worry anyone else that $4.12 billion is approximately how much the national debt increases PER DAY? Yes folks, the Democrats are quibbling over their grand plans to cut back our over burdening federal budget the equivalent of one single day of federal spending.
Now there's a bunch of do-gooders if you you ask me!
Did you hear Harry Reid on the Senate floor the other day? He talked about The Cowboy Poetry Festival and if we cut entitlements (perish the thought) we could lose this treasured international annual event. Say it ain’t so Harry! I quote, “…tens of thousands of people who come there every year would not exist” without entitlements. I’m not making that up. From prepared words in front of him on the podium he was standing behind, he said “they wouldn’t exist.”
Think of it! These people would all disappear—poof—just like that, if they
didn’t have that festival to go to. Oh by all means Mr. Harry, just keep spending our money the way you do. We love the way you do the things you do, yes we do, yes we do. Strange...I feel a song coming on...Ahem...
But I digress.
Even $62 billion isn’t enough. It’s a drop in the bucket. We need to act, we need to do something and we need to do it now! While it’s a good effort by the Republicans, it’s not nearly enough!
Call, write do something to let your lawmakers know – cut federal spending to the bone now! Enough is ENOUGH!

I agree. Let's get this thing done. I can't believe all the idiotic things we pay for. Up and useful and awesome!
Hi Carol. I had highlighted Sebilius's double counting in my latest hub. And in defense of Harry , northern Nevada is I am sure nice horseback country ! Is it me or does he sound more senile by the week ? At least we haven't heard much from Nancy lately. So I guess we can count that as a blessing.
I'm sure Wayne and Will will be upset as they will miss the festival.
What happened to that pig's ears? Surely not something political or poetic. Ha!
Nice hub with cool pics of pigs, thanks for sharing.
Great Hub! As usual, I agree with you. By the way, I know Jim Marshall, and he is an *ss in person also.
