GM Stimulus Money Goes to Dem Incumbents

The Wall Street Journal reported: GM STIMULOUS MONEY GOES TO DEMOCRATIC INCUMBANTS

Will the outrages never end? As The Wall Street Journal tells us, “We believe in the right to petition the government, but taxpayers should know what their GM shareholder capital is buying.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Frankly, I’m convinced this was the plan of Pelosi, Reid and Mr. Obama from the start. Bail out, own the bailed out mega corporations along with the unions – and then the favor would be returned by continually contributing to Democratic campaigns for all time. If Big Corp needs a bail out again, they know they can just go to the Democrats who will always remain in power. It’s a win win.

Except it’s a lose lose for the citizens of America.

The other bad news is, there is absolutely no way to write to anyone at the GM headquarters.

The good news is we can spread the word. Let’s make this article from the WSJ go as viral as we can. Let’s try to educate the uneducated – those still sticking their heads in the sand. As long as there is any percentage that thinks President Obama is doing a good job, we need to educate the uneducated.

$800,000 of that stimulus money was used to help men in Africa clean their pee pees. It would be funny if it wasn’t true…

The liberal snapped, “Where did you hear that?” Implication my mother was off her rocker. NO, uninformed Kool-Aid drinking liberals are!

I couldn’t reach anyone at the Renaissance building in Detroit where the GM headquarters is located. There are no phone numbers one can call, no emails, nothing. It's outrageous! They take OUR TAX MONEY and then I can't even call these thieves? Let’s make some noise. Pass this on! And DON'T BUY GM CARS!

I have no idea why this was not updated as I thought I wrote an update here the day after this Hub was posted. I apologize to any readers who read this without the update.

The day after this appeared, I received a phone call from Greg Martin GM's Director of Communications. The call came from Washingto D.C.

I was very shocked by the phone call as there is no way to contact anyone at corporate headquarters and I did a search for about 30 minutes to find an email contact or phone number. The only option I had was snail mail, and I wanted an answer by today - this Thursday Sept. 30 before I went live on Blogtalk Radio's "The Bryce Is Right."

Fortunately, he called with time to spare and I have to say I believe what he told me and accept his explanation.

Mr. Martin said that the money given to these Democratic incumbents is pooled employee money and no corporate funds were used or donated.

I believe this as GM is of course heavily unionized. I use the term "heavily" because they run GM now - as does the Obama administration. Where else would the money be used? Please see my other Hub on this same topic titled Do You Know How Your Stimulus Money Was Spent?

Mr. Martin was kind enough to hear my other gripes - about the fact that the only reason my message did get through to corporate was because I happen to live in Michigan and know the Renaissance building houses GM corporate headquarters. I had to write to the website itself (with no indication that this was a way to reach corporate) and asked that my email please be passed on. Apparently it was.

I also expressed that GM shouldn't be pooling employee money to give to any political party since so much tax money was used to bail them out of bankruptcy. I advised him that Independents, Republicans and Democrats gave their money to GM. They should for now - remain absolutely neutral in both spirit and in deeds. He said he absolutely would take my suggestions into consideration and pass my suggestions on as they were once again restructuring and having meetings as we spoke.

All in all I believed Mr. Martin and I am very glad he took my phone call. He indicated that The Wall Street Journal article didn't really explain the entire story and while I am an avid WSJ reader and fan, I see his point. If what he said is true, that no corporate funds were used, then the whole story was indeed not presented in that article.

So for now, my boycott is suspended. At least until further notice. Yet, I will say that until the unions are stripped of their ability to strangle our car makers, I'm extremely hesitant about buying a GM or Chrysler car in the future even though we've always in the past bought American. I simply don't want to put more money into the pockets of the corrupt unions. That's why I buy Wal-mart.
